The design of the China Peace chiao has been inspired by Japanese coins issued in Manchukuo (Manchuria) leading up to World War II.

The mirrored horse head illustration was hand-drawn by Brisbane-based designer, Gregory Hale. He used rare Japanese coins as his reference to recreate the illustration.

The mirrored horse head image appeared on a Japanese chiao coin for Manchukuo, a puppet state in northeast China.

Horses are associated with warriors and are a symbol of power and war strategy in Japan. They are depicted in many stories of war and triumph throughout Japan’s history.

This is a must for collectors of military numismatics, occupation currency and Japanese Invasion Money from World War II.

Each token is supplied in a coin capsule along with a descriptive card and envelope.
