Flag of Manchukuo / Floral sprays
The Japanese Puppet State of Manchukuo. In 1931, Japan invaded the three north-eastern provinces of China and set up the nominally independent nation of Manchukuo. A puppet government was set up under P'u-Yi, the former Emperor of China. In 1934, he was given the title 'Emperor of Manchuo' and the legend on the coins were changed to reflect his new exalted status.
