The design of the U.S.S.R Peace kopek has been inspired by Japanese notes used in military conflicts with U.S.S.R. leading up to World War II.
The Onagadori illustration was hand-drawn by Brisbane-based designer, Gregory Hale. He used Japanese-issued notes as reference to faithfully recreate and enhance the illustration.
Onagadori (meaning long tail or honourable chicken) are declared a Special Natural Monument in Japan. The onagadori image was used on a number of Japanese military occupation notes including campaigns against U.S.S.R.
The chrysanthemum symbol is the Imperial Seal of Japan and is used by the Emperor.
